TE Flu Vaccination – September 1

We have a change in the vaccination plan for this fall.

The vaccine clinic will be on site at Trails End September 1, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. This is available to all Trails End residents. This clinic will only administer the flu vaccine. Sign-ups for this can be found in the Main Officer or the Main Hall.

At the same time, the the administers will receive your copy of the vaccination information sheet. This will allow Walgreens to collect information needed for the other vaccinations that they will come back to administer. The vaccines offered will be for COVID-19, COVID-19 Booster if available, flu, pneumonia, whooping cough, and hepatitis A/B. Feel free to stop by the office to get a form, or come to the flu vaccination clinic on 9/1 to register. See the flyer in the link below for more information.

Town Hall Recap

Thank you to all of the residents who came to todays meeting. There was great dialog and we received some valuable information. I want to send a recap so residents who were unable to attend have access to the same information. Please help us pass this information over to residents who may not be on the blog. Feel free to contact the main office if anyone needs help signing up.

“See something? Say something.” We continue to emphasize the importance of reporting any suspicious persons or activities you see on and around the property. Police rely on this, as well as the main office. Make a description of anything or anyone you see. Document car tags, and note make and model of vehicles. The most important thing for cars is the tag number. Provide it to the Weslaco PD as soon as you can. Based on the call, their response will be different between situations in progress or after the situation has stopped. Use 911 for all emergencies, or use the non-emergency number 956-968-8591.

Entry Gate Tailgating We have not been able to determine how suspects are getting access to the property. We are inclined to believe they are entering and exiting at the entry gate through a vehicle. If you see someone tailgating you to get on the property and do not recognize them or the vehicle, allow the gate to close right behind you. If the vehicle makes it past you, please make note of the car tag and contact the non-emergency line for the police or call the Main Office. Most residents do not think about the exit gate, as well. Feel free to allow the exit gate to close behind your vehicle so other cars do not use it as an entrance.

Office Registration It is very important that each resident is registered with the Main Office. All vehicles, guests, occupants, and pets should be on file. All visitors and contractors should sig-in at the Main Office when they arrive. This will help when other residents call to report something, it can be confirmed without involving law enforcement.

Contact Patrol Anytime The officers are more than willing to come by and patrol whenever we need them. Feel free to use the non-emergency line to request a patrol if you suspect anything on the property. They have increased patrol during the day and night to help curb alleged break-ins. Use caution with activities you do at night.

Resident Recommendations The officers recommended a few ways to help protect your property. Examples given included adding security cameras to your property (fake or real), motion censor lights, and alarm company stickers and signs. Alarm companies give out free stickers and signs to paying customers. The officers suggested residents ask people they know to do this to provide them with some if they do not have active service themselves.

Pawn Shops We received helpful information about pawn shops. All items they purchase are required to be held in their possession for 3 months before being sold. If a theft occurs, in the report you make with police, give them your serial number for each missing item. This will flag an item that is sold to the pawn shop. The item can possibly be returned and the person who sells it can be arrested. If you have a serial number for a missing item, feel free to contact the local police to add it to your case number as soon as you can. It is not too late to retrieve the item and possibly capture the suspected person.

Do not leave your shed open while you are working away from it. This is in case someone driving around the property that may have bad intentions.

Open Carry Please note our policy on firearms in the updated handbook. Open carry is prohibited at Trails End off of your property.

Weslaco National Night Out – October 16 this is the event the officers mentioned at the end. https://www.weslacotx.gov/departments/community_events.php

Thank you.

Trails End Town Hall

We will host a Town Hall Meeting with Weslaco Police Department Thursday, August 12 at 9 a.m. in the Main Hall. This is in response to the alleged thefts that have taken place on the property. We want to provide residents an opportunity to gather helpful information from law enforcement. Come with any questions you may have with this, as well.

See you this Thursday.

Important Updates

We continue to receive reports of sheds being left open, with signs pointing to theft attempts. It sounds like a majority of items missing are lawn care equipment. It also seems like the sheds are being targeted in the evening time and at night. Please keep an eye out. As a community, we want to help ensure our residents and their belongings are safe and secured. Please make sure your sheds are secured as tight as possible. Our office have been receiving notices days later. In ALL cases of alleged theft, contact the police and file a report. Let our office know as soon as possible. We were able to help one resident recover their missing item when we were notified quickly. Local authorities were able to respond and are willing to help when they are made aware. We strongly recommend residents do not attempt to make contact with any suspected persons. Please call 911.

Too often, we are receiving reports days after the fact. In order to best help residents and our community, please let us know of observations and descriptions as soon as possible. “If you see something, say something.”

We appreciate everyone’s help with lawn maintenance. We continue to monitor on a weekly basis. We are noticing an increase to unit and water line damage due to high grass and contractors not knowing where to use caution while cutting. Damages and repairs will be the responsibility of the resident. Please ensure there is a regular schedule with your lawn care service provider.

New Gate Code, Meeting Follow-Up

We just want to send a message for all residents who missed the Manager’s Report at today’s meeting.

Gate Code: The new contractor gate code will be “#4000” This will begin Tuesday, August 3 at 8 a.m. As a reminder, this code will change monthly on the first Tuesday of each month, or as needed. Please use this for any contractors/vendors that come to the property. All vendors/contractors should still sign-in at the main office.

Palm Trees: Palm tree trimming will take place in September. Date TBD.

Walgreens On-Site Clinic: Walgreens will come to Trails End to distribute vaccinations to residents. We are planning some time the week of Aug. 16-20. Vaccines offered will be for COVID-19, flu, pneumonia, whooping cough, and hepatitis A/B. We have the form you can fill out in the office. These should not be returned to the office, as they need to go directly to the Walgreens administration the day of. This will help expedite the process for you. I will send a message once the date is confirmed. This is for TE residents only.

Brush pickup will be tomorrow (Tuesday).

Theft: If your lot has been affected by theft, we ask that you do two things; report it to the authorities and get a case number, and alert the Main Office. This will help us track activity on the property and work towards a solution for the property with corporate and local law enforcement.

The wood shop roof will be repaired soon.

If you see anything suspicious on the property, please get a description and report it to the Main Office. We do not encourage residents to encounter visitors/guests that you do not know. All visitors should be directed by the residents to sign-in at the Main Office. This will help with alerts we receive.

We are planning a “Welcome Back Dinner” for ALL Trails End residents scheduled for January. Additional information will be available at a later date.

As a heads up, the ice machine has been removed from the property. We are still pending the new Coke Machine delivery, and a technology upgrade to the laundry room washers and dryers.
